๐Ÿค Meet the team: Human Resources

Every great company is built on its people. At UMS, the team making sure those people are supported, heard, and set up to thrive is our HR department. Meet Christy Lee, Crystal Munoz, and Morgan Bissitt! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Christy Lee, our Chief People Officer, leads the charge on people strategy at UMS, shaping the culture, values, and vision that define what it means to be part of this team. Crystal Munoz, HR Manager, keeps the day-to-day people operations running smoothly, from hiring and onboarding to policies and everything in between. And Morgan Bissitt, HR Generalist, is on the front lines supporting employees across the full employee experience.

Together, they are the heartbeat of UMS. They handle the conversations that matter, navigate the challenges that aren't always easy, and consistently show up for every single person on our team with professionalism, care, and grace.

Behind every employee milestone, every new hire, and every team that functions well, there is an HR team that made it possible. We are so grateful for Christy, Crystal, and Morgan. ๐Ÿ’™

โœจ Employee Spotlight: Kevin Richards โœจ

Five years with UMS come July 29th, and Kevin Richards has spent every one of them earning his place. He joined the Jackson Meter Project on day one as a surveyor, then moved through telemetry tech, Warehouse Manager, and inventory before landing in his current role as Meter Coordinator with the Jackson Maintenance Team. And if you ask him, he'll tell you he still does a little of all of it. That's just how Kevin operates.

Get to know him and you'll find a genuinely easy-going guy, which makes it all the more fun when people find out he's a devoted fan of heavy metal music. It catches people off guard every time, and Kevin doesn't mind one bit.

When it comes to travel, one destination has always stood out: Australia. The outback, the scenery, the wildlife, something about it has called to him for a long time. It's the kind of place that feels like it exists on a different scale entirely, and Kevin wants to see it for himself.

The best advice he's ever received is also the simplest: always treat others the same way you want to be treated. It sounds straightforward, but Kevin lives it, and it shows in the way he's built relationships across every role he's held at UMS.

His goal for the year isn't complicated either. He just wants to be the best person he can be, personally and professionally. No grand ambitions, just a steady and honest commitment to growth. That kind of consistency is rarer than it sounds.

Ask Kevin what he loves most about UMS and he'll point to the people. "Everyone that I've met along the way has been a part of my growth with UMS." The family atmosphere isn't just a talking point for him. It's something he's experienced firsthand, role by role, year by year.

Here's to five years, Kevin, and everything still ahead. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Anyone can install a meter. We do more. ๐Ÿ’งโš™๏ธ

UMS isn't just a deployment company. We're a full-lifecycle utility partner, with the technology, the training, and the team to support utilities from planning through performance, and every step in between.

That's the difference. And it's why utilities across the country trust us to be more than just a vendor.

โœจ Employee Spotlight: Trent Richart โœจ

A little over two years in, Trent Richart will tell you his job title is Water Meter Installer โ€” but ask him how he really defines his role, and the answer is something else entirely: show up and do the best he can every day. Simple, unassuming, and exactly the kind of person you want on your team.

Trent might also have the best answer to the superpower question we've ever heard. If he could have any superpower, it would be the ability to locate anything he just sat down. Car keys, specifically. Summoned directly from the couch. He's thought about this. We respect it. ๐Ÿคฃ

The best advice Trent ever came across has become something of a daily mantra โ€” something he says to himself ten times a day, and something he credits with genuinely changing his life: "It's OK to suck, but it's not OK to skip." On the days when you're exhausted, when you're not feeling it, when your heart isn't fully in it โ€” show up anyway. Even if it's not your best performance. Just don't skip. It's a deceptively simple idea that carries a lot of weight, and Trent lives it.

For anyone looking for a book that backs that philosophy up, he recommends Atomic Habits by James Clear. Straightforward, practical, and โ€” if you actually walk its path โ€” life-changing. Trent would know.

His goal for the year isn't a number or a title. It's something quieter and more meaningful: to be a man who can stand tall and proud in front of his children. That's it. And honestly, that's everything.

When it comes to UMS, Trent doesn't mince words. "Working for UMS literally has changed my life." Financially, professionally, personally โ€” he's grown in ways he didn't expect. He followed the company to Georgia, lost a tremendous amount of weight, gained confidence in his capabilities, and found an environment where good work gets noticed and honesty goes both ways. "I've grown so much since I started working for UMS. And I look forward to potentially what's next."

That kind of growth doesn't happen by accident โ€” and neither does the kind of person Trent is becoming. We're proud to have him on the team. ๐Ÿ™Œ
