Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute

Yesterday, we were honored to welcome Shane Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer of the American Cancer Society, Kimberly Jackson, Executive Vice President of the Southeast Region, and other executive leaders from the American Cancer Society, alongside Hampton University President Darrell K. Williams, Dr. Neelam Azad, Vice President for Research, Hampton University Trustee Calvin L. Butts, Jr., and fellow leaders from Hampton University to Hampton Proton for an engaging tour and meaningful discussion about the future of cancer care. Hampton Proton executive leadership also joined the visit and discussions.

Conversations centered around our shared missions, strengthening cancer research, and expanding access to care. Following their visit to Hampton Proton, the group continued the day with a tour of Hampton University’s campus, highlighting our collective commitment to innovation, education, and improving outcomes for those affected by cancer.

We are grateful for opportunities to bring together leaders who share a vision of advancing cancer care through collaboration, innovation, research, and a steadfast commitment to the patients and communities we serve.

As Trustee Butts asked, “What if we cured cancer right here?” Yesterday felt like a step in that direction. 💙

Earlier this month, we celebrated the annual reopening of Emma’s Sensory Garden alongside patients, visitors, staff, and our incredible Hampton Proton Ambassadors. It was a lovely afternoon filled with smiles, connection, and appreciation for this special space that brings comfort and joy to so many.
