Have you ever felt stressed to the max... and then you come across a list of self-care to-do's that is so unrealistic it made you want to scream? â €
â €
Me too. â €
â €
I love bubble baths and massages as much as the next gal, but when I'm so busy I'm struggling to find time to remember to eat... the idea that I need to call up a massage therapist to make an appointment is laughable. â €
â €
Nope. â €
â €
There should be a different standard of self-care for when times are crazy—like when you have little children who need every ounce of your time and attention... or when someone in your family is sick... or when you're short-staffed at work.... Etc. ⠀

(I won't judge you if you type bubble baths 🛀, but I WILL be jealous.)

I have days when I feel like I could be swallowed up by my to-do list...
There's the things I feel like I HAVE to do:
✅work meetings
✅kid chauffeuring
✅meals and dishes and laundry
✅deadlines
✅Etc. (You don't want the details do you?)
Then there's the things I WANT to do...
✅family time
✅checking in with friends
✅reading, creating, learning
✅rest
And I have tried EVERYTHING from bullet journaling to online project management systems to keep track of it all. (That becomes a whole new task of it's own... alas.)
As much as I love ALL of it (I believe it was who coined the term "multi-passionate" and it describes me well!), sometimes I can just tell I need to take a step back. I don't need to add more things to my to-do list.
I need to UNdo.
I crave quiet, reflection, alone time, deep breaths. I want to stop doing and just BE.
My tendency, of course, is to put even THIS on my to-do list. The irony is not lost on me. It can be SO hard to undo our conditioning to go-go-go every moment of every day, even when you're ware of it. But this is why we do the practice.
What's your favorite way to UNdo?
