Our final profile features Catherine Revel. Over the past five years as part of our Business Development and Growth Team, Catherine has played an important role in the growth of our company. Her contributions help drive our success while opening new opportunities for employees throughout the organization.

We asked Catherine to share her perspective on being a woman in leadership —

How did you get into leadership/what are your past experiences with leadership?

My career in proposals has allowed me to share my passion to succeed and win as a team with amazing coworkers. I began helping proposal teams as a proposal coordinator and learned from some amazing supervisors and mentors what leadership styles work (and what doesn’t) when you are striving towards a common goal.

As a Capture/Proposal Manager, I’ve taken the experiences I’ve had through my career and shaped my leadership style into one that is collaborative, flexible, and most importantly, respectful of all the hard work my colleagues put in everyday.

What's your advice for other women trying to get into leadership?

Leadership isn’t always about authority. I try to remind myself often to focus on honest communication, realistic expectations, and supporting others so they can do their best work. When the team you’re leading feels like they can be successful, you will succeed - and hopefully have some fun along the way.

What's your favorite thing about working for The Swift Group?

The Business Development/Growth team at Swift is one of the best groups I’ve worked with. This team, and truly everyone I’ve been lucky enough to work with at Swift, has such a willingness to help and support growth efforts. It’s a rare experience to know you can rely on every single person you work with to get things done and that’s how I feel at Swift.
