I got to join the AMC 150th relay as the flag celebrating 150 years of the Appalachian Mountain Club hiked its way through Hanover's section of the Appalachian Trail. This flag started its journey in Virginia on March 14, and a variety of AMC leaders and volunteers have hiked it north. Today's group began at the Trescott Road trailhead, will spend the night at Moose Mountain Lodge, and then will hand the flag off to the next group at Dorchester Road tomorrow. Follow along on the flag's progress at www.outdoors.org/amc150. We are proud of our work expanding and protecting the AT corridor in Hanover throughout the years! Here's to many more years of happy through-hiking. Mountain Club

Every wonder how your favorite trail came to be? Get a behind-the-scenes look at the trail planning process at 2 PM this Saturday, June 20th at the Hewes Ravine!

We'll take an off-trail ramble at this recently conserved property to scope out the route of a soon to be constructed new trail. Learn what goes into our decision making and trail building processes, and be among the first members of the public to visit this beautiful property on the slope of Moose Mountain. We'll see a dramatic landscape shaped by headwaters streams, and a massive glacial erratic!

More information about this and all our events can be found on our online calendar: hanoverconservancy.org/events

National Trails Day 2026 was a success! Thanks to our great group of (strong) volunteers, we were able to carry two planks of rough-hewn hemlock a mile uphill to replace a rotten bridge crossing. Check out the bridge at its new home on our Black Bear Glen property, and find more volunteer opportunities with us this summer at our website!https://www.hanoverconservancy.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/BlackBear.pdf
