The crew from Electratech Services responded to an emergency call for a customer who had an "explosion" in their basement during the storms on Wednesday afternoon. During the investigation we found a whole house surge protector(that we installed more than 2 years ago) that was blown apart at the bottom of the electrical panel. The customer took a major electrical surge from a close lightning strike in the area and although the surge protector was destroyed, all of the electronics and appliances in the house were undamaged. The metal cover on the surge protector was blown across the basement and was bent from hitting a block wall.
