My mother-in-law gave me this book after she read it and couldn't put it down. I'm having a similar experience. If you're looking for a last minute gift for a mother figure in your life, this would be great. It's a well-written tale about what it means to be a woman and a mother, while at the same time being all of the other things that women and mothers are. In this case, a scientist, turned cooking show host. In the early 60s.
