I grew up enjoying Long Island Sound. I have fond memories fishing, crabbing, boating and exploring the natural beauty with my father, and want to ensure future generations have the same opportunity. This is one reason preservation and conservation are so important to me, and why I helped push for increased regulation and enforcement for our fisheries this past session.

A newly signed law I worked on will require anglers to release any striped bass they catch in Long Island Sound and other state waters from December through March. Current state law allows stripers to be kept year-round within certain size limits. This is to help protect the population of overwintering and make enforcement easier.

The new law will make it an infraction to violate any striped bass regulation, including the proposed catch-and-release rule between December and March. It will raise penalties to $150 for a first offense, $350 for a second offense and $500 for subsequent violations to help crack down on poaching.

Connecticut’s hands are somewhat tied when it comes to fishing regulations as they are determined on a regional basis. This new law will hopefully help protect the striped bass species and crack down on poaching. I’d like to thank fellow angler and cochairman of the environment committee Rep Parker for getting this done!

This but 90%. Now before you say that’s crazy - these AI companies haven broken every copyright and intellectual property law on the books. They have done that to pirate the entirety of knowledge that has been discovered through the course of human civilization. Every book, song, movie, painting, picture, poem, research paper, etc has been absorbed into their data centers. They have quite literally stolen our collective knowledge to build these programs in an attempt to sell it back to us. If that doesn’t justify an ownership interest in the company and program I don’t know what would.

I have worked in or around the construction industry my entire adult life. I’ve been a laborer, equipment operator, assistant land surveyor and now professional engineer. I know first hand how hard people in the trades work, and how critical their role is in our society. I also know how much trades unions improve workers lives, myself being a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. That’s why earning the endorsement of the Connecticut State Building Trades means so much to me.
