Our ACES chapter in Hamden were honored to host Governor Ned Lamont today for a Paraeducator Walk-a-Day.

Governor Lamont followed our President Stacey for the morning as she showed him what a typical day for her looks like. We did a reading assignment with her class, saw a few of her students at a Signing Ceremony and took a short tour of the various classes.

The work our Paraeducator Council does is difficult and many of our members, including Stacey, are forced to find additional work after they spend 9 hours at the school- just to make ends meet.

We know that Paraeducators are integral to the success of our students, so it’s past time to respect this career with a livable wage.

So as the school year ends, our fight for a $45k salary floor is just heating up.
