Horizon Services - Project Eden
Helping teens and families navigate life's challenges, substance-free. Here for you, wherever you're at in your journey.
Some days, just being a teenager is a lot. Add school, social media, family expectations, discrimination, and the whole "who am I even" of it all, and for a lot of BIPOC teens, that weight hits different.
Real talk: needing support doesn't make you weak. It makes you human.
This BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, here's the reminder, your feelings are valid. Asking for help is strength, not failure. And you deserve a space where you're actually seen, heard, and backed.
You're not alone. Your story matters. Your mental health matters.
Project Eden's right here in Alameda County when you need somewhere to land.

Nearly 1 in 7 high school students used w**d in the past month according to the CDC. The other six? Living proof you've got more company than the story tells you.
Youth ma*****na use isn't fixed in stone, it shifts when a community decides its young people are worth showing up for.
And the thing is, you don't have to be an expert to make a difference. You just have to be present. Prevention isn't one big dramatic moment. It's a hundred small ones, repeated by people who care.

Be honest: what's the one thing the adults in your life just don't get? ๐
Maybe it's the pressure that doesn't clock out when the bell rings. Maybe it's having a whole life online and IRL at the same time. Maybe it's that "just relax" is not the move when your brain's running 100mph.
We're not here to lecture. We actually want to know. Alameda County, we see you. And if you ever need a space that actually gets it, Project Eden is right here.

"Everyone's doing it." Yeahโฆ about that.
70% of U.S. 12th graders said they didn't use ma*****na in the past year. That's most of them. The crowd you're picturing? Smaller than the story makes it sound.
So if you've ever felt like the only one not partaking, you're actually with the majority.
Stay in your lane. It's a good one.

Think most teens are using ma*****na to cope with anxiety? The reality is most teens aren't using ma*****na at all. And for the small percentage who do, it may actually turn the volume up on mental health challenges. ๐
School, friendships, family stress, and the pressure of growing up can feel overwhelming. While ma*****na is often marketed as the "chill button," research shows that the 6.3% of 12th graders who use ma*****na daily are more likely to experience mental health struggles.
Your brain is still developing, and it deserves healthy tools that help you manage stress, build confidence, and stay connected.
Here in Alameda County, Project Eden offers a safe place to find support, build coping skills, and connect with people who have your back.

You + nothing added = already enough. ๐ฏ
"Be yourself" sounds easy until you're actually living it. The pressure to fit in, look a certain way, or do what everyone else is doing is real and sometimes it shows up as "just try it, you'll loosen up."
But here's the thing: you don't have to change who you are (or add anything to it) to belong.
The fun, confident, accepted version of you? Already in there. And here in Alameda County, Project Eden's got a space where you never have to perform for anyone.
Tag a friend in the comments who's enough exactly as they are!๐

Wise words from Lady Gaga โญ
That heavy thing you carry some days? It doesn't mean something's wrong with you. It means you feel things deeply.
That's not a flaw. That's being human. You don't have to numb it to get through it. You also don't have to figure it out by yourself.
Right here in Alameda County, Project Eden is a real space with real people who actually get it. No lecture, no judgment, just somewhere to land when the depth feels like a lot.

Here's what doesn't always make the group chat: Teens who use ma*****na are more likely to struggle with memory, focus, learning, and school performance.
And it's not just about grades.
Your brain is doing some pretty important work right nowโlearning new skills, building relationships, making big decisions, and figuring out who you are. Ma*****na can make all of that harder by affecting the parts of the brain responsible for attention, memory, and learning.
No judgment. Just facts.
If you have questions or want someone to talk to, Project Eden is right here in Alameda County with people who understand.

"Everyone's doing it."
Are they though? ๐
According to the California Department of Education, nearly 9 out of 10 juniors in Alameda County reported not using alcohol, ma*****na, or any other drugs in the past 30 days.
Only 5% of 11th graders report current ma*****na use. Just 10% report any substance at all.
So the next time it feels like the whole school is doing something? The math says otherwise. The crowd you're picturing is way smaller than you think.
You're not the odd one out for opting out. You're the majority.
