Busy training day for the Gold shift .. we worked on searching as a truck company in-front of or above a hose line .. working while moving with the 2.5 gallon hand can , isolating fire rooms and actually throwing water with the can. All valuable lessons truck companies perform on a daily basis. Our probationary firefighter was also introduced to some new tips and tricks and he moves through his probationary year! Strong work men!

Do we have enough reach? What about those wires? Not sure about the jack spread? Can we make this turn? How do you answer those questions? Not by sitting in a classroom, not by just training in some open parking lot… actually getting outside with the crews, getting outside in your still district and surrounding districts… real training.. vector solutions won’t throw this ladder for you! Get out, get dirty, and get to work. Keep training!

Driving the fire engine is one aspect of being a great engineer. HCFD drivers go through a rigorous training cycle that focuses on everything involved with that piece of fire apparatus. Everything starts with driving, understanding mechanical troubleshooting, basic mechanical aptitude, follow that up with weeks of multiple live evolutions. Evolutions grow in difficulty and complexity. Below is one of our new potential engineers running through some basics. Keep training !!

After a long awaited return.. L4087 welcomes back their ladder truck. Introducing the new T27. The vehicle should be fully operational and in service within the next 30 days! Feels great to be back!
