You might ask, what the heck do lentils have to do with female small business owners? 📈Let us tell you! So much!

Beyond being a superior nutritional source, 🍲they are pantry stable and they help with so many health outcomes.

Montana is this country’s top producer of lentils! So it helps drive our local economy.

Teaching our kids about these whole super foods allows us an avenue to teach kids and families nutrition and recipe reading/following. Too many of our young people in our community are cooking at a young age for their families. But we can make this a positive by teaching them variety and options now.

Food security in Montana is also all about eating what we grow locally, and providing lentils to our neighbors can help in this process AND this crop adds nitrogen to the soil improving soil health for other crops like wheat!

And you already know how we feel about local food sources and Helena’s fabulous CSA programs and supporting these programs with education for consumers. We can all learn and keep working on food systems that enable all of us to buy more locally because it helps all of us! 🚜🌾
