Helotes York Rite

The companions of Helotes York Rite joined the brethren of Helotes Lodge No. 1429 at their annual Scholarship Awards Program. We presented two "Honderd-Denk Vocational Student Grants" to two student from the Construction Careers Academy here in San Antonio. It's always fun to join our lodge brethren in masonic community activities!

The Companions of Helotes York Rite joined in a open lodge p***c program with the Helotes Masonic Family to present our annual Vocational Student Grants to two worthy students from the Construction Careers Academy.

The program opened with remarks from Mrs. Rosemary Denk in tribute to Companion Bill Denk, one of our two "Program Patron's" who have passed within the last year. We then all joined together to remember Companion Denk, and Companion Bill Honderd, the second Program Patron who helped design and raise the funds for our annual awards ceremony.

Helotes Chapter #444 awarded one grant and the recipient then named his mentor and educational influencer who he then awarded the Lamar Medal

Helotes Council #362 awarded one grant and that recipient then named his mentor and influencer - which turned out to be the same teacher from the Construction Careers Academy.

In each case the student read a brief testimonial to their mentor and the presented the award.

In a surprise announcement, Comp. Mark Holland announced an additional award to made directly to the Construction Careers Academy in support of their programs.

It was a great night to celebrate excellence!

It's time! Yes, it's time for the Helotes York Rite Annual Bill Honderd Memorial Charity Social!

Proceeds go to two $1,000 grants for two worthy applicants from The Construction Careers Academy (a magnet school in NISD) who are selected through a competitive process.

Tickets are NOW ON SALE at $40.00 per ticket and Comp. Mark Holland (PHP/PTIM) can help you out - yes, he can accept electronic payment! If tickets remain the night of the event they will be available at the door.

We will also hold our Annual Silent Auction at the event and please remember, the auction raises at least half of our annual funds that go directly to the student grants! So bring a few bidding dollars with you to bid on something that catches your eye!

This year we're holding the event at Umberto's Italian Grill at 7616 Culebra Rd (at the intersection of Culebra and Ingram) on Monday, April 3. Social Hour starts at 6:00 and we hope to see everyone there!
