South Falls - Silver Falls State Park

Silver Falls State Park was such a great place to visit just outside Portland, Oregon metro. With a bunch of waterfalls, there are many possible places to photograph. The only thing that is quite funny, is most of the waterfalls are just boring names, this is South Falls... and the next waterfall downstream is Lower South Falls... or on the path back Lower North Falls, then North Falls, and surprise... Upper North Falls. The fun part here is there are a lot of falls and the trail goes underneath a few of these waterfalls.

Multnomah Falls Oregon
Here you go, the iconic waterfall photo that every photographer takes when in the Portland Oregon area. This is Multnomah Falls and is always something to go see. To anyone that does want to see it, go early. Went at 7 am and maybe saw 10 people and 1 other photographer type, the rest were tourist taking photographs of themselves in front of it.

Heceta Head Lighthouse Oregon
On the third day heading up the Oregon 101 coast drive, I got to photograph Heceta Head Lighthouse overlook. I will say this was pretty much the only stop that day because of the beautiful scattered clouds in the morning. Later on that day, it became bad... like I can photograph in the cold winds and I can photograph in the rain... but when you have cold windy rain, it is never easy to photograph.

It has been a good year since getting out to photograph and now after a long family trip bookended with camping to do some travel/landscape photography... I got back to my base to edit and share some photographs. Here is the first of a series... This is Whitehorse Falls in Southern Oregon in the Umpqua National Forest. Now I need to finish cleaning camping gear, but more to come soon.

With spare time and with many older photographs to edit and update... I thought I would share the first photo of many to come. This tree snake is pretty cool looking; the texture, curling on top of a branch and the bright green... good thing I have some space between me and him.
