Blue Ridge Rails

For this year’s video, I focused on the railfan experience while shooting The Santa Train. We interviewed multiple railfans from different states to hear their views on the train, and videoed the major photo lines created by the crowd. We hope you enjoy the video! Premiers EST.

The past two days have been devastating for the WNC area. We pray for everyone involved within the entire area impacted. For the folks wondering about the railroads in the region, here are some photos from NS’s Asheville District and CSX’s Blue Ridge Subdivision. The first 8 photos were taken by the Blue Ridge Rails team, and the following 4 photos were taken by fellow railroader Hunter Levi, we thank him for allowing the use of his fantastic photographs.

Things aren’t looking good for the former Clinchfield and the former Southern across the Blue Ridge, i’d be willing to say a train won’t run south of Erwin for upwards of a year if not ever again. “Over 30 miles of CSX’s Blue Ridge Sub has been washed away, it’s almost unrecognizable”, and the damage to the NS loops as a whole is still undetermined.

From this point on, all profit made from the video will be donated to help the town of Spruce Pine, NC and surrounding areas rebuild.
