Just because a charge-off is marked paid doesn’t automatically mean your score will increase.
Here’s what could happen:
• The balance updates to $0
• The account may still report as a charge-off
• The payment history may still impact scoring
• It can remain on your report for up to 7 years from the original delinquency date
Every credit file is different. Paying an account and disputing an account are two different strategies — and timing matters.
