360 Policing

It’s nice being able to deliver the tactical side of De-escalation in CIT training at some of the NC training courses. While I agree law enforcement should be mindful of mental health issues, we should never expect an officer to forsake their safety at the expense of the person that is causing jeopardy. Allowing officers to become aware of human performance factors and ways to calm their own emotions empowers them to deploy tactics that support officer safety and verbal de-escalation.
