Erlanger Fire/EMS Department we see you. Keep leading from the front!

Another one!! Congratulations to the men and women of Erlanger Fire & EMS in Kentucky. 🔥

"Today, Erlanger Fire/EMS begins a new chapter with the first day of our 24/72 schedule!

This change of schedule reflects our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our firefighters while continuing to provide the high level of care our community deserves. No matter what schedule we work, our mission is the same: serve the citizens of Erlanger with compassion, professionalism, and efficiency.

Thank you to the City of Erlanger, and everyone involved in working so hard to make this transition possible. Your commitment to the wellbeing of our firefighters does not go unnoticed."

High Point firefighters push for special separation allowance after passage in Greensboro 06/18/2026

📰 WE'RE IN THE NEWS — AND THE PRESSURE IS ON 📰

FOX8 WGHP covered our fight today, and we want to make sure every High Point resident sees it.

Greensboro just passed its budget — and it includes a Special Separation Allowance for its firefighters. Now the question every High Point firefighter is asking is: when does our city do the same?

As HPPFFA President Robert Templeton told FOX8:

"When somebody like Greensboro gets a huge bump like what they've got, all of our guys are going... 'Greensboro is looking at their firefighters' health, their safety and their dignity for their retirement.'"

This isn't about money for money's sake. It's about the reality of what firefighting does to the human body:

🔥 Firefighters face exponential cancer risks compared to the average worker.
🔥 Most High Point firefighters retire between 50 and 55 years old, and when they do, the cancer doesn't retire with them.
🔥 The police department has had a version of this benefit since the 1980s. Our firefighters deserve the same.

The City of High Point has not announced when they plan to approve a budget. We've heard the delays before. Our members — and our retirees — can't afford to wait.

Neighboring cities are acting. Greensboro acted. Wilmington acted. New Hanover acted. Gastonia and Mooresville already have separation allowances in place.
