AUTHOR DONATES HER BOOKS

Books for Birthdays, Inc. would like to sincerely thank author Ms. Morgan Kristiann Durham for generously donating five copies each of her books “Just Like Mommy” and “My Beautiful Brown Skin.”

“Just Like Mommy” tells the story of a six-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a nurse just like her mother. “My Beautiful Brown Skin” shares a story of a young girl teaching her little sister the importance of loving and embracing her skin tone.

Books for Birthdays, Inc. is extremely grateful for Ms. Durham’s generosity and support.

A LONGTIME SUPPORTER FROM ATLANTA

Mrs. Leslie Bryant Cash has been a faithful supporter of the Books For Birthdays, Inc.’s Annual Angel Tree for several years. Although she lives in Atlanta, Georgia, she coordinates with a local friend to send photos of the Angel Tree ornaments (containing book requests) and then personally orders and ships the books to us.

This past December marked the first time we were able to meet Mrs. Cash and her lovely family, and we truly enjoyed their visit. We are incredibly grateful for her generosity over the years and for her continued support of Books For Birthdays, Inc.

A Chance Meeting Leads to Meaningful Giving

One Sunday afternoon, while my husband and I were walking through High Point’s Westchester Mall, we had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Shelia Durant and her cousin, Mr. Fred Baxter. As we talked, I shared with them the mission of Books For Birthdays, Inc. and the work we do to bring books and joy to children in foster care.

Shelia mentioned that she was a preschool teacher at Novant Hospital’s The Learning Place at Thomasville Medical Center. She told us she had recently purchased some new books that she wanted to donate and planned to ask her fellow teachers if they would like to contribute as well.

Just two weeks later, Shelia visited our office with a generous collection of new books donated by herself and her coworkers. We are truly grateful to Shelia and her colleagues for their kindness and support in helping us continue our mission.

We would like to also extend our heartfelt thanks to her cousin Fred, who made a thoughtful cash donation and as a token of our appreciation we gave him two of our special sodas from our 10th Anniversary Fundraiser.

This unexpected meeting turned into a beautiful example of community generosity and proof that sometimes, a simple conversation can lead to something truly meaningful.
