Our Story

The first issue of the Spinal Column newspaper was published in May 1961. The founders chose the name Spinal Column because they wanted their newspaper to be “The Backbone of the Community.” Today, 58 years later, those words still hold true.

The Spinal Column is a family of community print and online products delivered via mail and pick-up locations to White Lake, Commerce, Milford, Walled Lake, Wolverine Lake, Wixom and the lakes area of NW Oakland County. Our family of products includes: the Spinal Column website at www.spinalcolumnonline.com, the weekly Spinal Column Community Newspaper, and monthly Oakland Lakefront Lifestyles magazine.

The focus and goal of each member of the Spinal Column Media Group team is to produce the best, most respected local media products for the audiences we serve.
