💙 Your phone, your computer, and your screens are part of your everyday life… but have you thought about how your skin responds to all that light exposure?

Blue light (also known as high-energy visible light) comes from the sun and digital devices. While research is still evolving, studies have shown that visible light can contribute to oxidative stress and may worsen pigmentation concerns—especially in individuals prone to melasma or hyperpigmentation.

The good news? Protecting your skin is simple:
✨ Wear a daily sunscreen—even when you’re spending the day indoors
✨ Choose a tinted sunscreen with iron oxides for added visible light protection
✨ Reapply throughout the day when exposed to light for extended periods
✨ Support your skin barrier with antioxidant-rich skincare

In this episode of , Dr. Szabo shares why protecting your skin goes beyond just sunny days and highlights some of her favorite products for daily defense.

Your skin deserves protection 365 days a year. 💙

☀ Fourth of July Fun Without the Sunburn ☀

As we get ready to celebrate Independence Day with family, friends, barbecues, parades, pool days, and fireworks, don't forget one of the most important holiday essentials: sunscreen!

Did you know that just one blistering sunburn during childhood or adolescence can nearly double a person's risk of developing melanoma later in life?

Before heading out for your holiday festivities, remember these dermatologist-approved sun safety tips:

☀️ Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen 15 minutes before going outdoors

☀️ Reapply every 2 hours—and immediately after swimming or sweating

☀️ Don't forget commonly missed spots like the ears, scalp, lips, tops of the feet, and back of the neck

☀️ Seek shade whenever possible, especially between 10 AM and 4 PM

☀️ Dress the whole family in sun-protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses

We hope your holiday is filled with sunshine, laughter, good food, and time spent with the people you love—not sunburns.

From all of us at Alta Vista Dermatology, have a safe and happy Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙

What's your family's favorite Fourth of July tradition? Tell us in the comments!
