Fix of the month: A new customer came in with a concern about brake noise. Our Technician performed a brake inspection and after taking all the equipment off didn’t notice anything obvious and the assumption was brake dust was causing the noise. After reaassembling the brakes and attaching the wheels they were pulling the car out of the bay when they heard a noise upon braking. Instead of ignoring it our technician pulled the vehicle back into the bay and took another look. It took some time but they eventually found the cause. The noise was caused by a situation where the brake clips had been rubbing against the rotors and slight wear tracks could be seen in the clips. We replaced the hardware and resolved the noise highlighting how great our technicians are. They really take pride in doing quality work and not kicking the can down the road. Clays Auto Service fix of the week: They don’t make them like they used to or rather they flat out just don’t make them anymore. A customer brought their older vehicle in with an inoperable heater. The issue was with their electronic board where the heater control k**b had become severed from the board. Great, cause identified. The problem was the part was no longer being made. So, the team broke the problem down to its component parts, literally and soldered the wiring back together. Viola, like magic it was back to working condition. Another example of Clay’s technicians finding ways to serve our great customers and keep their vehicles running longer.
