I was invited to attend the Braver Angels conference this weekend in Philadelphia to speak during a breakout session on Fi****ms Policy.

I am now very intrigued by what Braver Angels is doing… and hope it catches on. I intend to get more involved in their work, which appears to align very well with my own thoughts about engaging in dialogue, getting outside of echo-chambers and challenging one’s own beliefs & positions. I even came across a presentation of the Respectful Irreverence principle that I share at the beginning of all my courses when I remind students that they have an obligation to ask questions and challenge the material.

I encourage anyone interested in breaking down the polarization, identity politics, purity tests and other associated ridiculousness so rampant in our country right now to check them out… and consider taking their Courageous Citizen Pledge, if you can live up to it:
