On July 8, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was publicly read for the first time at the State House Yard in Philadelphia. Today, 250 years later, our Red Cross team gathered at Honolulu Hale to hear a public reading of the Declaration by Mayor Rick Blangiardi and members of the Honolulu Youth Commission. Thank you to the Hawai'i America250 Commission for the opportunity to reflect on our nation's history and the enduring values of service, civic responsibility, and community.
