As the festival season approaches here in Thailand I feel the excitement of Loy Krathong in the air. A magnificent tradition celebrated by the releasing of lanterns into the sky and water.

It is such a special gift to be able to join in and experience the rush and sweet culture of Thailand’s festivities. I feel like it’s in celebration where I get a unique full on look into the ways different cultures share their reverence for life,their people, and their traditions.

The people of Siargao island are some of the most energetic and vibrant people I have met in my travels. A simple life here seems to be rich in what humans seek the most.

Also cant help but pull out my camera when i see little people. Children touch my heart. 💙🥹

Meeting people in these different rural regions brings me to question what actually makes life satisfying. What truly does it mean to be happy in life? When we have everything and still can't be happy, maybe it's better to start with less to see that it is more.

I really prefer the canopy of trees and nature as my studio. There is something magic about shooting outside in nature that I can't quite feel while shooting in with studio lights.

I guess I prefer adpating and working with nature as opposed to having full control over an environment and lighting. I feel like studios just tend to produce a synthetic feeling image that lacks a bit of that nature magic.

I suppose it's not too big a deal considering how much editing is done after shooting, digital photos are all rather synthesized nowadays.

What are your thoughts on controlled vs. natural lighting?!

I admit the 1st one looks more synthesized and surreal, though I came away from this session with some very dreamy pictures in general.

The fun exploring AI in the editing room continues. It's crazy how good the prompting is now. Changing clothes and changing hairstyles is actually pretty accurate, though it can take a few tries. The hands and certain details also come out differently each time.
