In Hawaiʻi, $150,000 a year is not comfortable. For many ʻohana, it barely covers rent.
The Area Median Income, or AMI, is the benchmark used to determine who qualifies for affordable housing programs, financial assistance, and homebuying support. And with Hawai‘i being one of the most expensive places in the country, the numbers are stark.
