Aloha and Happy Juneteenth Freedom Day!
What is Juneteenth and why do we celebrate this?
Juneteenth is a blend of "June" and "nineteenth" and is a federal holiday in the United States that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It marks the anniversary of June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved people were free.
