It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the passing of former city of Houston Mayor, Sylvester Turner. He was a transformative leader whose unwavering commitment to the city of Houston will leave a lasting legacy. Mayor Turner was more than a public servantโ€”he was a visionary who dedicated his life to uplifting our communities, advocating for economic empowerment, and ensuring that every Houstonian had a voice.

Throughout his tenure, he led with wisdom, resilience, and an unshakable belief in the power of unity. His leadership during times of crisis, his passion for equitable growth, and his deep love for this city will forever be remembered. Houston has lost a giant, but his impact will continue to shape our future for generations to come.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all those who were touched by his remarkable life, especially those in the Acres Homes community that he cherished so much. May we all honor his memory by continuing his work.

The Houston MBDA hosted the final session of our construction series yesterday and what an insightful and powerful panel of Women! We discussed Career Paths and motivation for our โ€œWhyโ€ as well as Challenges, Leadership, Advocacy, Finances and Mentorship. This panel of Women who own construction companies was on fire from the start of our live webinar series and that same fire continued in-person.

We will certainly build upon this momentum so keep an eye out next year for more with these Phenomenal Women! Our sincere thanks to ShaRhonda Hill, Sarah Kirkpatrick, Angela Taylor, Indra Guitierrez and the one and only, Raquel Boujourne. You all are rock stars and the Houston MBDA is grateful for your partnership.

Weโ€™re looking forward to 2025 and ALL that it brings!
