Life is full of ups and downs, many of which we never see until it is too late. For a sailor, this is truer than most. The hymn Jesus Savior Pilot Me captures this emotion beautifully, as a prayer to Jesus, the one who saves us, guides us, and redeems us.

2025 was a busy year that didn’t leave a lot of time for reading. But what I was able to read, I saved some notes. In a year of firsts, I’m adding a new section to the reading list, Reading Fails. These are books that I started, maybe not for the first time, that I just couldn’t finish.
