Letitia Plummer, like many Houstonians was raised in a multicultural household, an experience that has shaped everything she does. She was born to an African American father and a Yemeni-Indian mother in a multicultural family. As a graduate of the prestigious Historically Black Spelman College and of the Baylor College of Dentistry, she followed in her father’s footsteps as a practicing dentist and small business owner. As a city council member, she created the “Feed the Need” program, she introduced comprehensive policing reform and works for immediate assistance to underserved and vulnerable residents impacted by the winter storm.

Reverend James Caldwell, a native Houstonian, is a graduate of Wheatley High School and Texas Southern University’s School of Public Affairs. He attended Dallas Theological Seminary and has been an ordained minister for over 28 years. Reverend Caldwell has been a community advocate and activist for over 15 years. He is founder and director of the Coalition of Community Organizations (COCO), which connects communities to the invaluable resources they need and connects organizations with one another. He is incredibly active in a wide variety of public and non profit organizations, including serving as chair and facilitator for monthly community meetings in both 5th Ward and Kashmere Gardens.

The movies:
Fault Lines/Houston Cancer Cluster 22 min.
A powerful documentary piece that clearly shows the devastating results of industrial pollution impacting innocent people living in communities near long term industrial sites.

Forget Shorter Showers 11 min.
Why personal change does not equal political change. We face a seeming “double bind” of false choices, so forget taking short showers and take political action to confront and take down oppressive powers.

Conviction 25 min.
An Alabama fence-line community fights two coal-fired coke plants emitting heavy metals for decades. Pulling out all stops to convince EPA to add site to National Priorities List to reclaim the land and force industry to pay.
