The Reeds are Moving!
Over the last year and a half, the Lord has been stirring in our hearts the desire to be more intricately involved in the local church. According to Eph. 4, the gifting of the evangelist is given to the church to help equip it for Christ's mission. Because of our traveling schedule and the geographic location of our home church (Wisconsin), we've not been able to spend much time in the year back at our local church. (Living in an RV in January is not very feasible.)
My wife and I and my pastor have prayed much about this and have looked for God's leading. We have pursued several options, but the Lord has closed each door. It has not been easy. There has been much wrestling, soul searching, prayer, and seeking counsel. It has been an extended time of learning to wait on the Lord.
This past fall, the Lord started stirring our hearts about the state of Texas, and in December He laid a church on my heart. I've known of the church and pastor for several years and admired them from a distance, but I had been hoping a church would call us instead of me approaching them. I struggled with doubts, insecurities, and fears, but God kept pressing me forward. At times I felt like I was fighting through a bramble bush of emotions, but the Spirit kept saying, "Take another step."
After much prayer, I sat down with the pastor and presented what I believed the Lord was doing. His vision and our vision for ministry were aligned. His desires and our desires were aligned, his personality and ours meshed. After more prayer, the Lord confirmed this was His way for us to walk.
So last Sunday (March 9th), we officially joined Arise Baptist Church in Houston, TX and have taken on the role as their staff-evangelist. Pastor Will Cover and his wife Shandi have a passion for disciple-making, and we are excited to be joining them.
We will still be traveling in evangelism, but starting 2026, we are are going to be blocking out strategic weeks and months to be home in Houston involved at Arise.
We have intentionally spent the last 2.5 months in Houston to let the church get to know us and for us to get plugged in. We have already seen how the Lord is knitting our hearts with the church and using my gifting. I am so thankful for God's continual guidance and confirmation.
I will be eternally grateful for Falls Baptist Church in Wisconsin where we have based the last 5 years. I have gained so much and grown in the Lord while being there. This move is the next step in our growth journey.

Prayer Request:
Would you pray with us for a physical, brick and mortar home...that doesn't have wheels?
For a year we have been praying for a city prepared for Gospel advance, a church prepared for us to help equip, and a neighborhood to live in that's prepared of God for us to reach. The Lord has lead to a city - Houston; a church - Arise; and we're waiting on Him for the neighborhood and home.
Thank you for your love and prayers for us!

Hello Friends! It's hard to believe September is here and almost gone. Fall is fast approaching so we'd like to give you an update on our summer. (Sorry, its been so long since I've posted on social media. I'm clearly not a good millennial :)
June was a packed month. We spent the first two weeks in Missouri. First at Faith Baptist Church in Raymore and the second at Victory Baptist in Albany. Both weeks were a delight. God worked in both meetings in their own unique ways. I am learning that no two weeks are alike. A particular highlight for me was joining with a small group of men from Faith Baptist for a small group discipleship bible study. Living and experiencing life together while boldly calling each other to follow Christ is true church life.
The last two weeks of June were spent at Freedom Bible Camp in southeast Iowa. I preached for a junior week and a teen week. There were several young people saved in those weeks. I believe the Lord worked especially among the teens. One young in particular told me that a relationship with Christ had never been made some clear to him. That is a work of the Spirit of God!
Just before camp started we experienced a new family adventure. After church on Sunday the 16th, Gilbert fell off the monkey bars and broke his arm. So I spent the rest of Father's Day in the hospital with him. After two appointments and a few X-rays, he had his very own cast to wear. Never a dull day :)
After camp we left for Colorado to start the month of July. I had one camp and one revival scheduled for the month, but that was it. A much lighter month was a blessing from the Lord, but I also didn't know what I was going to do with my open weeks. A pastor in Greeley, CO let us park at his church for a few days completely sight unseen. We then drove down to the west side of Denver and parked at Tri-City Baptist. That was of the Lord. They were a huge blessing to us during the month of July.
We took advantage of our open time and took a family vacation down in Colorado Springs as well as spending a day in Estes Park. That was very enjoyable and refreshing.
We then traveled up to Treasure Mountain Bible camp for a week of teen camp. The following week we helped Try-City with their VBS. We also fit in some mini golf for the family and multiple bike rides.
We left Colorado the end of July and headed up to Wyoming. I preached for a revival meeting in Farson, WY at Eden Valley Baptist. That week was very special for us. The church had been without a pastor for several years. I'd been out there twice in the last 4 years and prayed with them for a pastor. The Lord brought Jesse Greenwood and his family from Utah to be their pastor last year. We connected so well with them and thoroughly enjoyed our week. (Our kids didn't want to leave.)
The first two weeks of August were spent in Green River, WY and Guernsey, WY. In between those two weeks I took a quick trip back down to CO to preach for a College & Career retreat at Treasure Mountain. One young man had invited an unsaved friend from California. He flew all the way from CA for a 3 day weekend. During the retreat he trusted Christ!
The third week of August we started making our way back east with one Sunday in South Dakota and one Sunday in Illinois. We finished August back in Wisconsin where I preached for my home church's academy school camp.
Well that was a full update, yet there is so much more I wish I could write. Though June was full, the pace of the rest of the summer was so helpful. We were able to spend some quality time as a family and have really benefited from that. God has also taught us a lot this about "Waiting on the Lord." Waiting is a part of life because God designed it to be so. He wants to teach us to fully rely on him for each day's provision of joy and strength. As Andrew Murray says, "It's the greatest privilege of the believer." have you learned to "Wait on the Lord"?
