The Epigraph for this year's Fruit Shirt Sunday was by Cornel West:

In the end, your life will be
measured not by what you have,
It will be measured by the fruit you bear
and the life you live.
It will be measured
by what kind of love
you really have.

Please join us for worship this Sunday, June 28.

Josh Apple writes:

Sometimes it feels like God asks impossibly difficult things from us. Other times it feels like God asks very simple things from us, but we still find them so hard to deliver. Are there ways to navigate the feelings of inadequacy that result? How do we keep from being discouraged?

Texts: Genesis 22:1-14; Matthew 10:40-42

Rev. Laura Mayo, Covenant's Senior Minister, offered a prayer this morning at a Juneteenth community gathering led by Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis. This gathering served to present the concept design for Houston's Remembrance Park and unveil historical markers honoring four men who were lynched in Harris County between 1890 and 1928: John Walton, Bert Smith, John White and Robert Powell. Remembrance Park will be dedicated to understanding the history of enslavement and the ongoing racial oppression and freedom movements in the United States.

Learn more about Houston's Remembrance Park and watch the full gathering at the link in our bio. Rev. Laura's prayer begins at 1:39:40.
