The labor movement brought significant improvements to working life, including the 8-hour workday and the 5-day workweek, a federal minimum wage, protections against child labor, and the right to organize and bargain collectively. These gains also led to a reduction in income inequality, increased consumer spending, the implementation of health and retirement benefits, and a higher national standard of living for American workers and their families.
