CAIR TEXAS-Houston
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims. The national headquarters for CAIR is in Washington, D.C.
🇺🇸Today, America turns 250…🇺🇸
…but for Texas students, honest education didn’t make it that far.
This year, the U.S. hosts the World Cup right here in Texas, welcoming the world to our stage. Meanwhile Texas classrooms teach a fairytale version of history that erases that same world, paints Islam in an overwhelmingly negative light, and mandates Bible stories statewide.
The founding principles that make this nation great— religious freedom, equal treatment, and HONEST education— can’t be allowed to fade.
🎇As fireworks fill the sky tonight, remember: there’s a different fire burning in Texas — inside our classrooms. Help us put it out. This September, high school standards go up for a final vote. We need you geared up. 🔥

On Monday, Shaimaa Zayan, CAIR-Texas Austin Manager, stood outside the State Board of Education and symbolically demonstrated the Islamic practice of wrapping the body in kafan (a burial shroud) to mark the death of religious freedom in Texas public schools.
The SBOE met this week to vote on a Bible-infused reading list and social studies TEKS that center one religion while erasing all others.
CAIR-Texas was proud to stand alongside BJC, RAC-TX, Texas Impact, SEAT-TX, and the Sikh Coalition in this demonstration. Pastors, rabbis, Sikh representatives, parents, and students gathered to mourn what’s being lost in our education system.
Follow us as we reveal more details on how the hearing went.

On June 19, two visibly Muslim women were verbally attacked at an H-E-B in Conroe by a woman who falsely claimed Islam is a “terrorist organization, not a religion” and to “go back” to an “Islamic country.”
We need elected officials in Conroe, Montgomery County, and across Texas to condemn this. See full press release here: https://bit.ly/cairtx-press1
