Science Based Combat Training

Do you train, or do you just shoot?
There is a massive difference between sending a few rounds downrange and following a structured training process.
Most shooters know:
• What gun they carry.
• What optic they use.
• What ammunition they prefer.
Far fewer can answer questions that actually matter:
• What is your current draw time?
• What is your hit percentage?
• How consistent are your results?
• How much have you improved over the last 90 days?
• Which fundamental is currently limiting your performance?
Without those answers, there is no controlled improvement.
There is only the feeling that you are getting better.
At ABA Intl, we believe performance should not be based on opinions, assumptions, or memory.
It should be based on data.
That is why we use the TMM Triad:
Technique.
Method.
Metrics.
Technique defines what to do.
Method defines how to train.
Metrics determine whether the training is actually working.
What cannot be measured cannot be improved.
And what cannot be improved is unlikely to be reliable when it matters most.
Now answer honestly:
How many “YES” responses did you get?

Understanding CQB goes far beyond speed and aggression.
Limited Pe*******on, Dynamic Entry, and Suppressive CQB each exist for a reason—and knowing when and why to apply them is what separates doctrine from improvisation.
In this post, we break down the three types of Close Quarters Battle with clarity, realism, and professional context.

How do executive functions shape real performance in police and military environments?
A new study breaks down exactly which cognitive skills matter most under pressure — and how training can actually transfer to real-world tactical decision-making.
If you want to understand how working memory, inhibition, task switching, and stress responses impact fi****ms performance, close-quarters decisions, and tactical accuracy, this post is for you.

Mastering performance starts with measuring it.
This post introduces how ABA Intl uses objective performance metrics—timing, accuracy indexes, efficiency ratios, and biomechanical markers—to transform shooters from simply training to actually progressing.
If you want to understand how the best shooters track development, break plateaus, and apply the TMM methodology with precision, this article is your starting point.

Reinforcing Variability: What Pigeons Can Teach Us About Tactical Training | ABA Intl In the world of combat shooting, adaptation isn’t just a bonus—it’s a necessity. While repetition builds baseline skill, true tactical readiness demands flexibility, improvisation, and creativity under stress. Combat shooting encompasses more than marksmanship — it integrates spatial awareness, biomechanics, and cognitive processing under stress. Like martial arts, it demands kinesthetic memory, precision, and fluid adaptation. Every movement is deliberate, every shot a function of control and discipline. It is a martial art in its own right — where efficiency meets strategy in high-stakes environments.
