America's Call

Long before smartphones, GPS, and the constant digital tether of modern life, I came to North America in the winter of 1978 with a backpack, a sleeping bag, and a camera. I was young and believed that if you kept moving forward, life would eventually reveal itself to you. In Geneva, I had a good job and a safe future waiting for me. That was precisely the problem.
