The Department of Public Safety and Texas Rangers announced Wednesday afternoon that they will investigate the killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo alongside the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.
Reporter Michael Adkison joined the show to explain what that means, and to discuss a public vigil happening tonight for Salgado Araujo.

Flash flood emergencies were issued early Thursday in parts of Kerr and Uvalde counties in Central Texas, amid downpours overnight. Emergency responders conducted water rescues.
The degree of flood damage isn’t yet known. But it all must seem like déjà vu for residents there, as it comes little more than a year after devastating floods in the area.
Much of the attention on and after July 4th, 2025, focused on Kerrville, the summer camp that was washed away, and the at least 117 people that died in Kerr County.
Less attention was given to the nine people who died amid flooding the very next day, 100 miles to the northeast, in Sandy Creek, a small, unincorporated community in Travis County.
That's the subject the latest episode of the Texas Newsroom/PBS Frontline podcast “After the Flood.”

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was working to obtain legal work authorization in the U.S. when he was shot and killed by ICE last week. Immigration attorney Olsa Alikaj-Cano joined the show to explore why immigration cases like his are so hard to resolve and what options, if any, exist for someone in his position.
