In response to requests for information and advice on whether users may attempt to disinfect synthetic web slings, roundslings or tie downs in order to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus, the WEB SLING & TIE DOWN ASSOCIATION Legal Resource Committee issued the following statement:

"WSTDA is not aware of any proven way to disinfect synthetic slings and tie downs that will prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus or that will ensure or certify the absence of the COVID-19 virus once the slings have been disinfected."

The statement also reminds users that washing slings and tie downs is expressly prohibited in the voluntary consensus standards promulgated by WSTDA, with references to specific Recommended Standards sections of specific interest.
