“You Never Know” what life has in store.

Someday you might find yourself on stage in front of 800 people interviewing a Hollywood legend you’ve admired for years.

That was me yesterday at the 10th annual Power of Literacy luncheon. Having a fireside chat with Tom Selleck about his new memoir, “You Never Know.”

And how fitting that it was in honor of what would have been Barbara Bush’s 100th birthday. Another legend I had the privilege of interviewing and getting to know through the years.

Tom instantly put me at ease with his warm smile, turning my handshake greeting into a hug. From there, it felt like talking to an old friend.

From the start of his unlikely acting career, through Magnum PI, Blue Bloods, and everything in between — we covered a lot.

And when it was time to go, the audience showered him with thunderous applause and appreciation.

I received another warm embrace and a peck on my cheek.

If you’ve ever wondered whether Tom Selleck is as nice as he appears to be, the answer is Yes!

He’s one of the good guys. Humble, thoughtful, engaging, funny, not to mention enormously talented. A genuinely lovely human being.

And yes, I’m still pinching myself!
