Our bodily wastes will poison our bodies if they can't be excreted. Ergo, patients who cannot do this under normal circumstances are supposed to utilize catheters. However, using catheters doesn't mean you are already safe from infections. Proper hygiene and catheter care are still necessary.

Follow these catheter care steps:

- Wash your hands with antibacterial soap and water before touching anything.

- Empty and change your drainage bags every day.

- Clean the drainage bags before and after use.

- Wear the leg bag below the knee or thigh because its straps are movable. Hence, it can be accidentally pulled.
