Fighting s*x trafficking by reducing demand.

04/22/2026

At Demand Disruption, we believe change often starts with one conversation.

Jennifer’s story is a powerful example of that ripple effect.

Between 2022 and 2023, Jennifer lost both of her parents — and her lower leg. In the middle of that kind of loss, she wasn’t thinking about changing the world. She was trying to figure out whether she could keep moving forward at all.

When she transferred to Houston Christian University, she questioned her direction, her major, and whether she was capable of stepping into something meaningful again.

Then in January 2025, she met Dr. Kevin Wilkinson.

He asked her one simple question:
“What do you think about human trafficking?”

Her honest answer:
“I think it’s bad.”

She didn’t yet understand how close the issue was to home — but she said yes to learning more.

Within a month of being introduced to Demand Disruption, Jennifer was already presenting ideas to leadership and helping expand education and outreach. Since then, she has helped build connections between college students and organizations across Houston, contributed to initiatives like Anti-Trafficking Huskies, supported research efforts alongside the Texas Department of Public Safety, and helped bring this work into academic spaces where future leaders are learning how they can step in.

Jennifer’s impact didn’t start with expertise.

It started with resilience.
With curiosity.
With the decision to keep moving forward when life gave her every reason not to.

This is the ripple effect.

One conversation becomes awareness.
Awareness becomes action.
Action becomes momentum that reaches far beyond where it started.

At Demand Disruption, we see stories like Jennifer’s every day — people stepping in and creating change in ways they never expected.

Because disruption begins with showing up. 💙

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with parents at Westbury Christian School after being referred by a member of their community to help continue an important conversation about protecting kids in today’s digital culture.

At Demand Disruption, we believe one of the most effective ways to combat exploitation is through education and early prevention. When parents feel equipped to recognize risks, start conversations at home, and look out for others in their community, they become a powerful part of disrupting harm before it starts.

These moments matter because prevention does not happen in isolation. It happens when communities stay connected, pay attention to one another, and step in when something does not seem right.

If you believe education is one of the strongest tools we have to create safer communities, join us this Saturday at The Ripple Effect as we continue sharing how everyday people can be part of addressing human trafficking at the root.

Next Saturday isn’t just another date on your calendar. It’s The Ripple Effect.

This isn’t just an event you attend and forget about. It’s a room you step into that shifts something in you. Where “that’s terrible” turns into “what can I do?” Where awareness actually leads to action.

There are stories you haven’t heard yet. Realities that will challenge the way you see everyday life. And a community of people who refuse to look away and are choosing to be part of something bigger than themselves.

Most people will scroll past this. Most people won’t show up.

But you can.

Don’t wait for “someday.” Don’t assume there will be another time.

Be in the room. Be part of The Ripple Effect.
