π Impact Wednesday
We recently visited the Museum of the West Texas Frontier to present a THF grant supporting the expansion of its free, TEKS-based educational programs for rural Title I schools across West Texas.
The grant helps bring hands-on Texas history lessons and engaging field trips to students, connecting them with the people, places, and stories that shaped the region. By making local history accessible through interactive learning, the Museum is helping inspire the next generation of Texans to explore and appreciate their heritage.
π€ We are excited to support programs that bring Texas history to life in classrooms and communities across the state.
π Our work is possible because of you! Our donors, members, and supporters are essential to our mission. To become a member or make a gift, visit texashistoricalfoundation.org.

ποΈ On the Road with THF
We had the chance to stop by Houston's Buffalo Soldiers National Museum again, and yesβ¦ there are a lot of photos. But every angle reveals another fascinating architectural detail, and asking us to pick favorites is like asking a parent to choose their favorite child! π
Before becoming home to the Museum, this remarkable building was the 1925 Houston Light Guard Armory, designed by renowned Houston architect Alfred C. Finn. Built in the Neo-Gothic style, it served as the headquarters and social center for the Houston Light Guards and the Texas National Guard for decades before finding new life as a museum.
Today, thanks to an ambitious restoration, this historic landmark is being preserved for a new generation while continuing to tell the stories of those who served Texas and our nation. Enjoy the photos!

π Member Spotlight: Sophienburg Museum and Archives
Few places are more closely tied to the founding of New Braunfels than the Sophienburg Museum & Archives. The museum is located on the historic Sophienburg Hill, where Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels established the headquarters of the German Emigration Company in 1845 and helped lay the foundations of the new settlement.
Today, the Sophienburg's museum, archives, and library steward more than one million photographs, documents, and records, making it an invaluable resource for historians, researchers, and genealogists.
Pictured here is the historic Emmie Seele Faust Memorial Library, a beautiful native-stone building constructed in 1938 that now serves as part of the Sophienburg's archival and educational campus.
π Thank you to the Sophienburg Museum & Archives for your partnership and dedication to preserving and sharing the rich history of New Braunfels and the Texas Hill Country.
