I had the chance to join Vera Emoghene on Rolling Out’s Director’s Chair last week. We talked shop—Collaboraction Theatre’s signature immersive style, honoring Mamie Till’s legacy, and the real impact of art.

TITD just got a second extension and now closes Sunday, March 29. Come see what the buzz is about…or come back with that friend you haven’t stopped talking to about it.

I’m blessed to have no shortage of great women in my life. Too many for one post.🥰

Today I want to acknowledge one woman in particular: the lovely NK Gutierrez.

For the past few months this artist has taken on the challenge and responsibility of living in Mamie Till’s legacy for Trial in the Delta.

There’s an art and a science to an actor’s work.

I’ve watched NK work tirelessly at this role. Researching Mamie Till’s entire life experience. Memorizing massively challenging monologues. Taking on notes that didn’t always match her own great instincts.

Allowing herself to get messy.

For Mamie.
For Mamie’s baby.

There’s so much more I could say, but I’ll leave it at this: NK, thank you.🥹

When we said we wanted to work together… who knew it would be like this.🖤

How divine is it to be able to honor Mamie at this time?!✨

Happy International Women’s Day.👑

Trial in the Delta’s (almost) closing weekend went like:

GNO at to support and Chicago Foundation for Women.

Dancing in heels for hours → acupuncture. 😆

Squeezes and giggles with .

Old school friends catch up over Colombian cuisine.🥩

Collaboraction’s 30th Anniversary party full of poetry, music, mommy-daughter pics and LOVE.

A flawless Trial in the Delta performance followed by a powerful talkback featuring the walking encyclopedia himself, Mr. Chris Benson of the Till Institute.

And last but not least, some Harlem Jackie style advice. Sometimes you just gotta let someone HAVE IT.🤷🏽‍♀️

What a way to wrap up BHM.😅
