👨‍👩‍👧 **Transition Law: Students Under Age 18**

Under IDEA, parents remain important members of the ARD/IEP Team until educational rights transfer. Parents have the right to participate in meetings, ask questions, help develop transition goals, and consent to changes in special education services. As students prepare for adulthood, families and schools should work together to build self-advocacy and independence.

Join me for my presentation, **A History of Disability in Texas**, hosted by the Crockett Resource Center for Independent Living.

Together, we'll explore how Texas's understanding of disability has evolved over time and how the **Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)** has helped shape educational rights and opportunities for students with disabilities. The goal of this workshop is to provide participants with an understanding of our state's historical perspective, its evolving response to disabilities, and the lasting impact of IDEA on children, families, and schools.
