BridgeYear

A $17 million investment is helping create new pathways into the skilled trades for Houston's next generation.

We are proud to share that BridgeYear is joining a regional initiative, led by Houston City College, in collaboration with Houston Independent School District, Good Reason Houston, Greater Houston Partnership, and other employer and labor organizations to officially launch Gulf Coast TradeUp Careers.

Supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the initiative will serve more than 1,350 Greater Houston high school students over the next three years, creating clearer pathways from high school to high-wage, in-demand careers in the skilled trades.

BridgeYear will recruit and prepare 375 graduates who may otherwise leave high school without a clear roadmap through hands-on Career Test Drive® simulations and a summer pre-apprenticeship program.

By bringing together education, workforce, and community partners, this initiative is helping open doors to high-wage, family-sustaining careers for Houston's next generation.
