Elijah Rising is a 501(c)3 nonprofit anti-trafficking organization. They grieved the lack of out cry for those being exploited, oppressed, and sold for sex.
Today is a day for celebrating freedom. At the same time, we have to open our eyes to the reality that thousands of women right here in our city are not free. Not physically, not emotionally, not spiritually.
We’ve spent the last several weeks sending teams out to hundreds of locations where women are being exploited with the message: You are unconditionally loved and freedom is available to you.
The World Cup is coming to a close, but trafficking in Houston is not. If your eyes have been opened because of all the attention drawn to trafficking during the World Cup, don’t turn away when the games end. This message of freedom is for every single woman who does not believe there is an end to the pain she’s experiencing.
We need people to continue taking that message out, to the streets, the clubs, the hotels, the brothels, the cantinas, all of it. People willing to walk into the darkness with a message of freedom.
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free” Luke 4:18
The message of the gospel is freedom for the captives. It is the responsibility of those who follow Jesus to share it. Let’s keep going!

Last Friday, we had a lot of volunteers who had never done Intervention before. This new group included a former bouncer. He realized that 4 of the strip clubs we would be reaching out to were clubs he had previously worked at.
He didn’t go inside this time, but he knew those rooms from the other side. He told us what he’d seen and the destruction he’d witnessed to the women working there.
Friday night he stood outside those buildings and prayed. It was such a powerful night.

We’re getting ready for week 2 of World Cup Intervention tonight! Pray over the encounters and conversations that are had tonight. We want every woman we meet to know that they are deeply loved and valued by us, and most of all by Jesus. ♥️
It was beautiful to gather with everyone; new volunteers, and people from all our intervention sites from Baytown, East End, Cypress, Spring, and SE Houston to reach our city with resources, a free gift, and the love of Jesus. Many testimonies, we will be sharing soon!
