OTA students visited a dementia day center over the summer! They facilitated activities promoting social engagement, expression through art, and movement through dancing.

OTA students at HCC Coleman venture out into the wild while on their community integration field trip! Whether it be traveling to the park to seeing animals at the zoo, students learned the challenges of navigating with medical equipment. This field trip opened up new experiences on how the environment may not be accessible for a person using a walker or wheelchair, and the importance of advocacy in universal design within the city!

On May 3rd, OTA class of 2025 graduated from the program! Congratulations on your achievements, and becoming the future practitioners you’ve worked very hard for!

OTA students from HCC Coleman partner up with OT students from Texas Woman’s University for collaboration! From solving case studies to learning different roles, students worked together through communication.

Highlight of the month:
In honor of celebrating OT month in April, OTA students and faculty from HCC Coleman attended the national conference in Philadelphia! AOTA INSPIRE 2025 offered various learning sessions on emerging practice areas, connections with OT students and practitioners, and exhibitors showing off their latest products to keep the inspiration of occupational therapy alive. Not only are we expanding the profession as a whole, but offering OT services that are beneficial and accessible to the public through meaningful activities to promote quality of life!

Highlight of the week:
On April 14th, OTA students from HCC Coleman hosted the Disability Awareness Challenge at HCC Central Campus! Students engaged in fun activities, while learning all about what occupational therapy is! From showcasing adaptive equipment to a wheelchair obstacle course, students learn how a disability can impact a person’s daily life.

HCC Coleman OTA students attended the 14th annual Walk With Me at the zoo! Hosted by Easter Seals, students, friends, and family supported access to healthcare resources for people with disabilities.

OTA students and faculty members took a powerful step toward creating positive change by attending Day at the Capitol to advocate for occupational therapy services.
