Slow Down to Speed Up 🚀

The last couple of weeks have had me on the road — training events in San Antonio and Corpus Christi. When I travel, I get a lot done: calls, planning, and maybe most importantly, time to reflect.

Somewhere along the way, reflection became undervalued. Everyone’s chasing what’s next, the next shiny thing, the next opportunity — rarely stopping to ask why or what did I learn from the last one?

But reflection is where the growth happens.
It’s where the dots connect — that moment when something clicks and you realize, “Ah, that’s why this happened… that’s why that door closed… that’s why that person came into my life.”

Lessons are everywhere, but we can only grab them when we slow down long enough to see them.
Those lessons shift our perspective. They shape new decisions. They drive new actions. And those actions? They create new results.

It’s a cycle that repeats if you allow it — and that’s how we become the best version of ourselves.

So here’s my challenge to you this week:
Take time to pause. Reflect. Ask yourself:

đź’ˇWhy did this happen?

đź’ˇWhat can I do differently next time?

đź’ˇIs this giving me energy or draining it?

đź’ˇWhat might change if I truly applied what I learned?

Slow down. Reflect. Grow. Then move forward — stronger and wiser.

You can have excuses, or you can have results—but you can’t have both. This simple truth is one of the most powerful pieces of advice anyone can receive if they’re truly committed to leveling up in both business and life. The difference between those who achieve success and those who stay stuck in mediocrity often comes down to this binary choice.

Since 2010, as a business coach, I’ve heard just about every excuse imaginable for why someone’s business isn’t where they want it to be. Occasionally, I still hear a new excuse that makes me shake my head. The fact is, excuses don’t nurture growth; they suffocate it. They stunt progress and, in some cases, even cause regression. Excuses are toxic and reveal weakness.

When things aren’t going your way, one of the most powerful questions you can ask is, “What’s my role in this situation? What habits—or lack thereof—got me here? What decision and action can I take to move closer to my goals? What have I not done that’s left me in this less-than-ideal spot?”

Reflect on what you’re doing—or not doing—right now. Create a plan. Execute it. You’ll start seeing results. They may not be perfect at first, but they’ll move you forward, not backward. And if the result is failure, treat it as a lesson, make adjustments, and keep going.

Results—good or bad—are your compass for growth. They’re the light guiding your journey, both personally and professionally. Stop making excuses. Chart a new course today.

Do you want to hire a coach that won't allow you to stunt your greatness with excuses, send me a DM, and we can set up a call together to explore what coaching would look like for you.
