🌀 HTX MEDIA TROPICAL WEATHER ALERT

TROPICAL STORM BERTHA FORMS IN THE GULF — SOUTHEAST TEXAS SHOULD STAY WEATHER AWARE

Tropical Depression Two has officially strengthened into Tropical Storm Bertha, becoming the second named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.

What this means for Southeast Texas:

🌧️ Periods of heavy rain are possible later this week.

💨 Gusty winds of 30–40 mph are possible if the storm tracks farther west.

🌊 Elevated surf, dangerous rip currents, and minor coastal flooding are possible along the Texas Gulf Coast.

⚠️ Forecast confidence continues to improve, but residents should closely monitor the storm's track for any changes.

At this time, the greatest impacts are expected to remain east of Texas, affecting portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle. However, even a slight shift in the storm's path could bring increased rainfall and gusty conditions to Southeast Texas later this week.

HTX Media will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Bertha and provide updates as new information becomes available. Stay prepared, stay informed, and make sure your hurricane preparedness plan is in place before any potential impacts arrive.

🏍️ THREE BIKES... ZERO GETAWAYS! 🏍️💨

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — It looked like the start of an action movie, but it ended with flashing lights and handcuffs.

On July 16, 2026, deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office attempted to stop three motorcycles in the 10700 block of West Sam Houston Tollway North. Instead of pulling over, all three riders decided to test their luck and took off.

Unfortunately for them, the sky was watching.

With help from the Texas Department of Public Safety Air Support, deputies kept an eye on the motorcycles from above until all three riders eventually stopped at an apartment complex. Deputies moved in and arrested all three without any further incident.

The suspects were identified as Cristobal Martinez, Aldahir Lopez, and Bayron Martinez.

All three were booked into the Harris County Jail on charges of Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle. Cristobal Martinez and Aldahir Lopez each received $35,000 bonds, while Bayron Martinez received a $75,000 bond, all set by the 496th District Court.

HTX Media's Friendly Reminder: If you see a helicopter overhead, it probably isn't there to admire your motorcycle. 🚁🏍️
