Medicare Supplements only pay after Medicare pays its share first. If Medicare approves a claim and pays the part that Medicare owes, it will forward the remainder of the bill to your Medicare Supplement.

At age 65, you are eligible for Medicare, regardless of whether you are already taking Social Security income benefits. Some people also qualify for Medicare earlier than 65 due to a disability or illness.

Medicare Supplement plans do not require referrals, allow you to see any provider that accepts Medicare, require separate Part D plans, and only have a one-time Medigap Open Enrollment window.
